Hi,

I want to go to Eindhoven from Rotterdam. However, as per NS website, there is a malfunction on the Rotterdam Breda track and the extra travel time is 30 min or more.

Are we entitled for a refund for a part of the total fare, as the travel time is delayed by 30 min?

Regards,

Raj

Did you travel 15 minutes or more longer after traveling between Eindhoven and Rotterdam? Then you are entitled to reimbursement, on a regular route without the Intercity Direct this reimbursement applies from 30 minutes. You can claim this 24 hours after your journey on NS.nl/geldterugbijvertraging.

for at least 30 mins in normal trains its 50% back and from 60 mins even full price of the single fare=half the return if that would apply. It can be paid out into any IBAN in the combined EUR-area bankaccount, but I´ve seen many foreign people complaining that it seemed impossible for NS to refund on creditcards or other accounts. Dont know if this has been resolved in the meantime. In principle its sufficient to fill out the online forms.

There is (of course) a hickup-very often NS claims as first response you should have travelled otherwise and thus not had this delay. You then have to protest this and explain how you went. The system is nearly fully automatic in first instance.

For the train from Eindhoven to Den Haag (via Rotterdam) you can get 50% back when the delay is 15-29 minutes, and 100% for 30 minutes or more. See here.
