The shop that rents bikes at the station in Venlo is closed between 25 November and 9 December.

There is the option of renting an OV-fiets at the station but you need a subscription for that.

There's another shop in Venlo that rents bikes. Not open on Sundays and Mondays. €8,50 per day and a deposit of €35.

Thank you, for your response. I wrote about venlo only as an example, but I am more interested if I can go abroad legally with the help of a rented NS bike (I currently have subscription )

Sure you can... :P

Just kidding of course, but there are no legal limitations (regarding insurance etc.) that prevent you from taking the bike outside the Netherlands.

The value of an OV-fiets is around 250 euros (at least that is what you will be charged if you rent it for too long, or decide to keep it), so the real value (cost for NS) is probably much less.
