I will visit Amsterdam soon for a few days and would like to use the OV fiets system. Is this possible without living in the NL? I don't have a SmartCard yet.

The OV-fiets is only availble with a subscription and a personal OV-card. For someone not living in the Netherlands getting those 2 are a bit of a problem, its not impossible but will cost you time (and more money).

I think the easiest is renting a bike at a regular bike rental shop.

From what I know you need a personal OV Chipcard and register the OV bike product to be able to use OV bikes.

You could have a look at the new oBike service (https://www.o.bike/). Works with an app. Don't know about Amsterdam, but in Rotterdam they are all over the place (not to mention that Rotterdam is much more interesting than Amsterdam 🆒 )
But ; it's more expensive and they need a deposit.
Thanks for the informations, they're very helpful!
Hello,
I will visit Utrecth soon and I would like to start a bike tour from there.
Since I cannot buy the OV-card online (because I don't live in NL), Can someone of you confirm me the possibility to buy it directly at the station on my arrival?.
Thanks in advance for your precious info.

You can only rent OV bikes if you have a personal OV chipcard. These cannot be bought at a station, but have to be ordered. The Utrecht Region Pass seems more suited for you.
