A problem which many non Dutch will have.
Not living in NL, no bank account in NL. Wishing to buy a (multi) day ticket, or just a ticket.
Most of us do have credit card, Visa or MasterCard.
Are we forced the robbery of Euro 7.50. ?

Or is there a way? When does Netherlands enter the 21st century?

In Vancouver, Istanbul or London you can order online tickets and you will always get your Euro 7.50 or its equivalent back.

Dear Keescanada, welcome to our Community!

You can order tickets in our webshop and pay with your credit card. That's no problem.
Here you can find all the different tickets. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

There is no advantage in buying tickets online for a trip in NL. Just purchase them on the day of travel from a ticket machine. Although the tickets are euro more expensive than when you buy them online this way you have maximum flexibility. Tickets bought online can't be changed or refunded.
There can be an advantage in buying tickets online, especially in the case of promotional tickets.

But beware:
online tickets can NOT be changed and are NOT refundable (these is, unfortunately, NOT indicated when buying).

Many travellers are very disappointed when they find out afterwards.

At present you can buy these promotional tickets (also with credit cards):

The ticket machines accept payment by Visa or MC. But only if they have Chip and PIN, basically the EMV system. You should probably check with your bank if you have a card with EMV.

According to this article you should be OK. It's mainly credit cards from the US which are still being issued without an EMV chip.

Very useful and thank you for this info.
You are on the ball. In Canada all credit cards have chip technology with a PIN.
The USA IS INDEED the exception,
So it will work with the machines, thanks

Kees
