I’m a 19 years old Italian girl that will soon be living in Brussels, Belgium and traveling around 15-20 days per month to Breda, Netherlands because I will be studying at University there.

I will have a SNCB student subscription fro the Belgian part of the travel and I’m now looking for a cheap option on the NS website for the dutch part which is really short just the border part Hazeldonk - Breda. I cannot find any kind of discount for students on the NS website, I only found the NS Flex Traject Vrij (Unlimited travel on a fixed route) for 70.70€ per moth which is CRAZY considering I will pay way less for the belgian subscription which is like 80% of the travel.

I hope that someone will be able to help me find a cheaper option, I’m a student and I’m on a tight budget!

THANK YOU.

You should check out this page 😁.

You might be eligible for the studentenreisproduct.

Unfortunately no, as I will not be working in the Netherlands! Thanks though!

Some universities offer a travel allowance, have you checked with your university?

NS don't offer special student subscriptions. The full fare from the border (Hazeldonk grens) to Breda is €5.40, and €5.60 from 15/12. That can be reduced by either tying yourself to 1 train (Saver fare) or, after 9 in the morning, having a “Dal Voordeel” discount subscription. But for 15 to 20 days a month, the Traject Vrij subscription looks like the better deal.
