I have been travelling with NS for 2 years with the 40% discount on weekends and off-peak hours for both train and bus/tram/metro rides. Now, I have decided to upgrade to the weekend vrij subcription (train), but i still miss my discounts on the other means of transport. Is there a way to combine both aspects? Or maybe I should be considering a different subscription?

NS doesn't offer subscriptions that give discount on both train and bus/tram/metro rides. What subscription did you have the past two years? Are you sure it gave you a discount on bus/tram/metro rides?
You could contact customer service to disable the bus/tram/metro part of NS Flex, so you will travel on balance again in bus/tram/metro. Then you can buy another subscription, next to NS Flex Weekend Vrij, that allows you to travel with discount in bus/tram/metro.
Which subscription is best for you strongly depends on the area in which you will travel by bus/tram/metro, at what times and how often. Although this community is technically not the right place to ask about subscriptions for bus/tram/metro, if you're willing to share some details about your travels, we could offer suggestions for suitable subscriptions, though.
