Hello. Last night i was traveling with the train from Driehuis to Amsterdam. The train left Driehuis at 19:03. I put my bike ( green vrouwfiets Windgoo E-20 e-bike) in the handicaped place near the toilets. Somewhere between 19:20 and 19:25 (between Haarlem and Halfweg) i saw  a man mid 30 with a Cap , a ruczak in his back standing near the bike ( on the place where you can put the luggage) but i did not think that he was a criminal, so i went to my seat , couple seats in front and when i arrived in Amsterdam Sloterdijk to go down , the bike was gone , and i asked somebody he said he saw the guy with the cap taking it 1 station before out !

I made a police report but i would like to know if there is something more that i could do. Can Ns give me the video from the cameras in the train? Or some other method to identify this guy before he does it to someone else. If somebody was in this train and saw something please contact me.           Thank you and take care what you do with the bike in the train.

First of all a folding bike is not considered a bike (for which a ticket is required), but is just carry on luggage. Neither are allowed on the handicaped place. Furthermore, terms and conditions require you to stay with your luggage and not leaf it unattended like you apparently did.

NS can provide camera footage to the police upon their request if and when they decide to investigate your case.

Quite crazy that you leave such an expensive bike out of your sight especially during the evening...

I would advise you to stay with your luggage at all times next time, that includes your bike.

Very good advice @Iulia92!

First of all, people should of couse keep their hands off other people's things. At the same time, you shouldn't give any opportunity. There are still people with wrong intentions, unfortunately. This experience is an expensive learning lesson.

I hope you will hear from the police and get your stolen bike back.

Putting luggage on the place reservec for wheelchairs is not a problem, but you should be ready to remove it as soon as somebody in a wheelchair enters the train.

Just like in the bus and any other means of public transportation 😃.

True, I missed some nuance there, thanks for the correction. So did you 'though if we're gonna be complete. In many trains there are seats at the handicaped place and those are not to be blocked by luggage when anyone wants to sit on them, so this space should be cleared from luggage for anyone who wants to sit there in absanace of other free places available to them, including but not restricted to handicaped people who may be unable to use other places to sit.
