Personal OV-Chipkaart for tourist

I will be visiting the Netherlands for 1 month from Australia. I would like to obtain a Personal OV-Chipkaart to be able to use the OV Fiets (the town I am staying in has no other quick bike rentals) as well as the Flex Voordal subscription to obtain cheaper fares.

I am thinking of following these steps, does anyone have any experience or advice?

  1. Phone number - I will be using a French number
  2. Address - Longterm Airbnb address
  3. Payment - Paying through IDEAL via a Wise card

Then once the OV-Chipkaart is obtained:

  1. Add the Flex Voordal and OV Fiet subscriptions to my Chipkaart
  2. At the end of my stay, pause/cancel those subscriptions

Am I missing any steps?

You've even got one step too many: OV fiets is included in NS Flex so you won't need an additional subscription for that.

As you appear to have a Dutch address (your AirBNB) and iDeal payment option available, you could also skip the step of first ordering a chipcard and just order the subscription on a new card in one purchase. That has the advantage of the chipcard being for free.

Renting an OV bicycle costs €4.55 per day (24 hours). After 3 days of rental (72 hours), the rent is € 9.55 per day. You then pay an extra surcharge of €5 per day.
