I will be staying in the Netherlands from Australia for 1 month and wish to purchase a Personal OV-Chipkaart, mostly for the OV-Fiets.
Can anyone confirm if a phone number is required? I notice on the application it is listed as optional.

A Dutch phonenumber is required to purchase a NS Flex subscription I’m afraid. There are cheap ways to get a simcard for your phone here though. You can buy a prepaid one for a small price.
Additionally, if a phone number is required does it need to be Dutch? Or will a French number work?

+4They are not going to call you, so just use 0100000000 or any Dutch 10-digit number. Mobile number can be empty.
