I tried to buy an Anonymous OV-Chipkaart at a vending machine in Amsterdam Zuid station with €20 travel credit. The machine charged my credit card, but did not dispense the Chipkaart or give a receipt. I called the phone number shown on the machine (0800 0540) and was told the money would be refunded to my card after 24 hours.

The money has still not been refunded, and I have tried both the support chat and calling the phone number again, but both support routes have no idea what to do with this problem. The phone agent I just spoke to gave up even trying to help and hung up on me. How do I get my money back? If not resolved by the end of the week I will instruct American Express to reverse the transaction.

The “Automaatnummer” is 203, the transaction happened at 18:52 on 7th October for a total of €27.50

Hello @j.east,

I would have done the same as you: call the telephone number on the vending machine.
If I understand you correctly, you called that number on October 7th and they promised that the amount would be back on your card within 24 hours?

Now we are October 16th, so more than a week later. Then the amount should have already been on your card.

Did you already call the NS Customerservice? The phone number is 030-751 51 55 (24/7 available). When you have a foreign provider then the number is +31 30 751 51 55. Maybe they can help you.

If not I would suggest you will instruct American Express to reverse the transaction.

At this Community travellers try to help other travellers, but we cannot view each other's data of data from vending machines.

If you travel with an anonymous public transport chip card (OV-chipkaart), you must always top up. Did you know that you can also travel on public transport with credit card? Maybe with your card too?
