We have some friends visiting from out of the country (without OVchipckaarts) and we would like to use the Combined Travel discount with them. Many, many posts point to this page: https://www.ns.nl/en/travel-information/traveling-with-the-ov-chipkaart/combined-travel-discount.html ...but that doesn’t describe how to actually use the benefit. It says:

you can travel with up to 3 companions during off-peak hours.

And that’s it. If taken as written, that means you can just bring along 3 other people with you on your ride. Basically, 4 people ride for the price of 1? So you just all hop through the entry gates together? Do you pass the card through and swipe it four times? That can’t be correct, so if there’s more to using this discount, please describe the process! It’d be helpful if that was added to that webpage as well.
