I currently have a “Dal Voordel op saldo 2e Klasse” subscription and it was just renewed in April for the following year, but I recently get the idea that it may be more beneficial for me to change it to a Weekend Vrij subscription. Can I do it? If I purchase the new subscription, what will happen to the money that I paid for the renewal of the current one?

Yes, you can change to NS Flex Weekend Vrij at any time. Follow the instructions on this page, don't forget to add the supplement for discount during off-peak hours if you would like to keep that, and order it for your existing card.
You will be reimbursed for the Dal Voordeel subscription costs for the remainder of the year.
