I live in Haarlem and take the bus to go to work which is why is use the Amstelland Vrij Monthly subscription. However, I find myself travelling more and more to Amsterdam which is a lot easier and faster to do by train, but is not included in my subscription. I have been looking at the “Weekend Vrij” subscription and would like to know if i can add it on top of my current bus subscription.

Any ‘free travel’ zone/star/region subscription (Amstelland bus) should work when adding NS Flex subscriptions.
So yes, you can add Weekend Vrij for trains on top.
