I travel daily from Kilwijkstraat, Dordrecht, to Sluisjesdijk, Rotterdam. My journey involves traveling by NS train and then by a RET bus.

Is it possible to combine a RET monthly subscription with an NS Traject Vrij subscription for this route?

What would be the best subscription options to save costs for this daily commute? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Vishwdeep,

Assuming you are travelling to work 3 days a week or more, the cheapest way seems to me

1) to walk to Dordrecht Train station

2) to take a Traject Vrij subscription for the route Dordrecht to Rotterdam Lombardijen (see https://www.ns.nl/en/season-tickets/traject-vrij). Train runs every 10 minuten

3) to take bus nr 70 to a stop near your work location. Runs every 7,5 mimutes. You'd best take the 1 Star RET subscription with central zone 5314 for that, see https://webshop.ret.nl/en/webshop.html and https://www.ret.nl/home/reisproducten/reisproductadviseur/uitleg-zonesysteem.html

Alternatively, you could take a Dordrecht-Rotterdam Central subscription combined with a 2-star RET subscription. In that case you can choose any route the 9292 app advices you.

Mind that two subscriptions on one ov chipcard will interfere, so you need two cards. Or you first order the NS card and the call the customer service to deactivate the pay-bus-afterwards option and then place the RET subscription on the card.
