Engineering work Antwerp 11th January - no Eurocity Direct

I have a booking on Eurocity Direct 0835 Antwerpen Centraal to Rotterdam.

This is no longer running according to the journey planner. Eurocity (not Direct) is stopping at Antwerpen Berchem instead. Eurocity Direct is running non-stop from Rotterdam to Brussels.

Am I allowed to use Eurocity (not Direct)? Eurocity Direct tickets are normally not valid on Eurocity.

Can I get a full refund? Normally there is a 5 EUR fee but arguably I should get a full refund as the advertised service is no longer available.

NS International chat says this:

“I just checked and you are allowed to take the Eurocity to Antwerpen Berchem and from Antwerpen Berchem you can take trains from the NMBS to get to Antwerpen Central. you can do this with the same tickets. It is also possible to cancel your tickets without any costs.”

Thanks, but they are only contactable by international telephone call.  If this can be resolved without calling that would be better.

I saw that too but I thought that was only for complaints and compensation.  I think I’m happy with the response from NS International and I will use the Eurocity with the same ticket.  I suppose I should ask for a full refund and buy a new cheaper ticket to use normal Eurocity but it is too much work.

You could, or if you have a delay of ay least 1 hour compared to what you booked originally, you can claim compensation for delay.
