I changed my NS subscription to NS Flex Dal Frij which was effective from 27th February. Yesterday I travelled to Amsterdam in off-peak hours and received an invoice for €57 that says:

Am I being charged half of the subscription cost? I’m so confused.. why am I being charged this?

When you already have NS Flex and change to another subscription, the monthly invoice date doesn't change. In your case, you once started your NS Flex on the 13th of the month, so your last invoice was for 13 February to 12 March. This intermediate invoice is for the remaining part of that month to settle the new subscription costs after you changed from Dal Voordeel to Dal Vrij. Your next invoice will be for 13 March to 12 April, and on that you will pay a full month of subscription costs.

The period from 27-02 until your fixed Flex date (the 13th) covers 14 days in a monthly period that has 28 days (in this case that’s exactly half of the running month).

For your new Dal Vrij subscription, you then pay half of € 119,95 which is € 59,98
From your former Dal Voordeel, you get half of € 5,95 back so that’s € 2,98

The amounts are split for weekends and off-peak during weekdays, this is normal (Weekend Vrij alone costs € 36,95 and half of that is the mentioned € 18,48)
