Hey

Do I need to buy the € 2.60 supplement to take the ICd from Rotterdam to Amsterdam?

If so, can I simply pass my OV-Chip Always Free on the red "spots"?  Or do I need to buy a subscription?

 thanks

Yes to both questions: you do need the supplement if you travel with Intercity direct between Rotterdam and Amsterdam, and you can buy this supplement by using the supplement poles (red poles) on the platform.

If you have an NS Flex Altijd Vrij subscription, the supplement will be added to your invoice. If you have a non-Flex Altijd Vrij subscription, then you need to have a sufficient balance on the card. If you use the poles, the surcharge is cheaper during off-peak hours (1.56 euros).

A subscription is cheaper if you take this train a lot during peak hours. See this page for more information.
