Inquiry About Payment Options

Hi,

As I am currently back in my home country after my exchange in the Netherlands, it is inconvenient for me to deposit additional funds into my Dutch bank account due to high transfer fees. Therefore, I would like to ask if it is possible to settle the payment using a Mastercard or Visa card instead.

Thank you for your assistance.

Best regards,
Y.H. Li

What is it that you need to pay? If it's a regular invoice from an NS subscription, then the only possibility is direct debit in euros from an account that supports SEPA direct debit.

If you still need this subscription in future, then think about getting an account with minimal exchange fees, e.g. Revolut or Wise.

Welcome to the NS Community!

If you don’t have any discount or free travel subscription, you can just use your VISA or Mastercard to check in and out for all public transport. Your card wil be billed the next day, see https://www.ovpay.nl/en/how-it-works

Oh wait, I read it wrong. So you have a due payment but insufficient funds in your Dutch IBAN? That is no problem, you will receive e-mail reminders and can pay manually from any foreign bank account. Costs for currency conversion may apply, of course.

If you need a BIC code, the one for NS is usually ABNANL2A

Funny to see https://www.ibancalculator.com/iban_validieren.html mentions this community 🤣
